The Doomsday Clock

It’s time for me to get back to writing this blog and it is time for the Church to get really, really serious about waking up and spreading the Word. What finally got me motivated to start writing again was last Sunday’s sermon by Pastor Rob on the letter to the church at Sardis Rev 3:1-6 where the apostle John writes Jesus’ words of warning. ”Wake up!” Jesus says to the church. That jolted me into action since this blog’s stated purpose is to wake up the Church.

Are you familiar with what’s referred to as the Doomsday Clock? https://thebulletin.org/doomsday-clock/current-time/ Started in 1947 by a group of atomic scientists after the dropping of two atomic bombs brought an abrupt end to World War II, this “clock” provides an educated guess as to how close humanity is to self-destruction. The hands have been moved closer or further away from midnight over the past 75 years.

Currently it stands at 100 seconds before midnight. Originally it was based on the likelihood of war but now it also considers things like climate change and Artificial Intelligence (AI). If it factored in what the Bible has to say about the end of time, it would be more accurate.

So where are we on God’s Doomsday Clock? (Doomsday being defined here as the Battle of Armageddon) We know that particular battle occurs at the end of Daniel’s Seventieth Week, commonly referred to as the Tribulation.

When this blog started a little over two years ago near the beginning of the Covid lock down, most of the Church wouldn’t have thought we were very close. After all, they reasoned, people have been talking about it for thousands of years and nothing has happened. 2Peter 3:3.

Today, any Christian who knows his Bible and has followed the news sees the incredible changes that have occurred since the Spring of 2020 and is now much more likely to believe we have moved significantly closer.

Since I have not written much of anything since early Winter of 2020 there is a lot of catching up to do. In the coming months, we’ll look at some of the astounding changes that have occurred in the past two years and see how they feed into God’s plan for humanity.

If you are interested in learning what the Book of Revelation actually says from a literal, future looking perspective as God intended it to be viewed, come to The Bridge Bible Church in Somerset, Wisconsin on Sundays, 10:00 through Labor Day and then either 9:00 or 10:45 the rest  of the year. Or you can hear the sermons at thebridgewired.com. The Book of Revelation of Jesus Christ series started in mid-April and as of July 3, 2022  we are on Revelation, Chapter 3.

Please, neither offhandedly accept nor reject what is said in this blog. Check it out. Look it up for yourself in the Bible. If you are a child of God, you are in good hands and there is the most wonderful eternity waiting for you. If you are not a Christ follower, now is a really good time to honestly explore the truth claims of the Bible.
